La’al Reivers

Reiver
All along the Cumbrian/Scottish border the La’al Reivers raid each others’ farms and crops. The pickings are slim in this weather, as the bee herds are still hibernating, but come summer they’ll be stealing bees to spirit away. In the background there’s an old fortified barn, from when the Big Folk had to protect themselves from Reivers too. Villagers would retreat behind its three foot thick walls and shoot arrows through the balistraria (arrow slits) against the thieving invaders.
